The "golden compasses" adorning this piece can also be found as accents to many indigenous tribal textiles. Northern tribes, especially the Hmong people, wear similar cross, or "X" type motifs in their native attire.

• Our modern twist involves using fewer colors (traditional pieces commonly have 8-10 colors) and accenting the compass design with a repeating pattern.
• Natural Dye: Indigo leaves and mulberry fruit.
• The soft blue color is derived from an ancient method of naturally-processing indigo leaves-a method similar to the process that resulted in the world's first pair of blue jeans!
• Mulberry fruit is harvested year-round to produce the golden sunset color in our Golden Compass Fair Trade scarf.
